Aregbesola commiserates with Osun people over Chief Imam’s death

Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola

The Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has described the death of the ‎Chief Imam of Osogbo, Mustafa Ajisafe, as a big loss to the entire Muslim community in Osun and Nigeria.
Mr. Ajisafe was also the president-general, League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states.

In a condolence message by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy in the Governor’s Office, Semiu Okanlawon, the governor described the late Ajisafe as a cleric of repute, saying that his contributions to the search for peace in the state and the country was outstanding.

“The death of Sheikh Ajisafe is a big loss to the Muslim Ummah in Osogbo as well as the entire state because he preached peace and unity while alive. His preaching at home and his gospel of Islamic scholarship will be missed,” Mr. Aregbesola said.

While praying for the repose of the soul of the late cleric, the governor urged members of various Muslim societies to continue the good works Sheik Ajisafe started, adding “this is the only way to immortalise this pride of Osun in particular and Nigeria as a whole”.

“This is a sad moment for the Muslim Ummah in Osun, we are however grateful to God that he led a profoundly peaceful life,” he said.

“The Muslim Ummah will miss him dearly and we pray Allah (SWT) to forgive him his shortcomings and grant him Al-jannah firdaus. May Allah give all of us the fortitude to bear the loss.

“Words are inadequate to describe the contribution of our father to the growth of Islam in Osogbo, Osun, Edo, Delta and Nigeria. Baba Ajisafe was popularly known for his commitment to the promotion and propagation of peace and unity.

“He was no doubt a scholar of higher integrity who touched the lives of many Muslims positively”. The governor pointed out,” he added.

May the soul of the Imam rest in peace.

Don’t know what to make out of your jaundiced writeup. Mr Obono!

    • Dipo Osundina

      Progress,

I pray, what makes the writeup ‘jaundiced’? Please be generous enough to share with us.

Its very easy to be an armchair critic Mr Obono. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at this writer’s assertion that Buhari must effect change immediately as the most prepared president just because, wait for it, he has contested 3 times. Wow. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. My question to the writer is, has Buhari actually been in government in any capacity or form during those times he contested? In case he has forgotten, PDP was in power for 16 years, not 16 days, or 16 hours. PDP ran this country aground in 16 years, with monumental corruption, ineptitude, and impunity. Changing that will NOT happen in 3 weeks.
People like this just feel the need to write and criticise, without taking the time to understand what actual change in the context of government is. I dare say that had Buhari come in and started making wholesome and drastic changes, without consultation and proper assessment, its these same people like this Obono that would be screaming that Buhari is a dictator reborn. Obono, as a director of an organisation, can you seriously tell me you can enforce any kind of change within that organisation without proper assessment and the potential impact of that change on the organisation? If you can honestly say yes to that question, then you should be the one running the country. Oh, I forgot, you didn’t run for president!!!!!

      Tunde I.

Please read carefully before criticising, then you will understand that Nigerians are getting frustrated with the fuddling steps of President Buhari, and the APC leadership.

No one is asking him to rebuild Rome in one day but he needs to understand that Nigerians voted him to office because we were impatient for a positive change. That is what he promised us.

One more thing. I would urge you to go after the writer’s points instead of launching a personal attack on him.

Mr Obono is one of the ethnic-bigotry remnants that supported and benefited from the six years of wasted and most corrupt-ridden regime in the history of Nigeria.People like Obono and the like are impatience and trying to rush the well-matured and highly experienced president Muhammadu Buhari, but they will all fail flat as president Muhammadu Buhari,is cool-headed and planning ahead towards implementing all his election manifestos to Nigerian people;s satisfaction.Bono, redeemer, deri and others may burn in hell as if most Nigerians care.
