Amosun declares bid for second term

Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun

The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, on Friday publicly declared his plans to vie for a second term.

Mr. Amosun made his intention known while featuring as a guest on a live radio programme, Daybreak Show of Rockcity F.M Station, Abeokuta.

Mr. Amosun also clarified that he was not in competition with a former governor of the state, Olusegun Osoba, as rumoure.

He also took the opportunity to ask for Mr. Osoba’s forgiveness for whatever offences he might have committed.

“By all means I will contest second term because our people have shown love and I really cannot thank them enough,” Mr. Amosun declared.

He disclosed that he receives over 2,000 calls and text messages on a daily basis, with a quarter of the calls from people asking the governor to reconcile with Mr. Osoba.

“Every day, (people) send me texts and do this on a daily basis. I take more than 2, 000 calls and text messages as well,” he said. “At least, maybe a quarter of those calls are on “E yanju kini yin oo.” (Please, look into this issue.)

“You cannot go to a battle with a divided house. I agreed with all of them and I want to thank them enough but I have said it that I am not in competition with Chief Osoba, he is our leader,” he said.

Despite his monumental failure in office as a governor, he still hold a criminal thought of contesting for second term; we are waiting for him at the poll.

The biggest genocides of the 20th century after the Holocaust are those of Stalin (progroms and forced resettlement) and Mao (the “Great Leap Forward”). Both resulted in millions of verifiable deaths. Why are they not mentioned in this essay? Is it because you are their ideological fellow-traveller? This kind of partisan bias has always tainted your writing. That is a pity.
