The Ogun State Government has released toll lines to residents of the state for quick contact to the authorities in case of suspected case of the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.

The telephone lines as released by the Commissioner of Health, Olaokun Soyinka, are: 09099140121, 09091140122 and 09021715984

Mr. Soyinka disclosed that the state had increased the number of health workers that would assist the security agencies in the border areas to guard against the spread of the virus.

“The State government has increased the number of health workers who are well trained on how to restrain the movement of foreigners coming into the State, while some health workers are presently undergoing training on how to curb the spread of the disease,” the commissioner said.

Mr. Soyinka equally debunked rumour that the state had recorded cases of Ebola Virus at Imeko – Afon Local Government Area. He said the rumour is false and unfounded.

The commissioner said the citizens of the state should remain calm and follow the heightened hygiene steps provided by the Ministry of Health, adding that government was taking necessary steps to guide against the spread of the disease.

He said the state has not recorded any case of Ebola virus since it was brought into the country by the Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer, few weeks ago.

Mr. Soyinka said members of the public should not panic but should report suspected cases of Ebola to the Ministry of Health through the announced telephone lines.

The symptoms of Ebola include High Fever, joint pains, headaches, sore throats, vomiting, diarrhea, internal organ shutdown and hemorrhage.
