27 year old man arrested for ‘kidnapping’ traffic warden in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 27 year old man, Tosin Owolola, for allegedly abducting a traffic warden at Iyana Mortuary area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The police spokesperson in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, who made this known to journalists, said the incident occurred last weekend.

“The incident occurred when the traffic warden was at his point in Abeokuta and flagged down the man, who was driving his car against the traffic at Iyana Mortuary. The suspect hit the traffic warden and he (warden) fell on the bonnet of the car,” Mr. Adejobi said.

Mr. Adejobi said the suspect kept on driving for another 4 kilometres, with the traffic warden on his bonnet. It took the efforts of members of the public and other policemen on patrol, who were called on distress, to rescue the traffic warden, Mr. Adejobi said.

The man eventually drove the warden into the Kemta Idi Aba jungle.

The police spokesperson said the suspect was heavily drunk.

Mr. Adejobi added that Mr. Owolola was a technician with Ordinary National Diploma, OND, in Business Studies from the Lagos State Polytechnic, and hails from Imo, Abeokuta, in Abeokuta South Local Government, Ogun State.

Mr. Adejobi said the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, has called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

Mr. Ikemefuna directed that the suspect be subjected to some medical examinations before he was charged to court.

“The Commissioner of Police also warned that such acts will no longer be tolerated for it’s the duty of the command to take the welfare of our personnel seriously; and urged the general public to accord adequate respect to all security agents who are being deployed to perform their statutory and/or special duties within the state and in general,” he said.

Thank God for people like BRF who has proved that good governance is not a rocket science. This man has made it clear to all that good governance is achievable in Nigeria. He is a man I will support anyday, anywhere and anytime. He may not be perfect as no man is but he has raised the level of governance in this part of the world. If for BRF alone, I will vote for Buhari/Osinbajo come March 28, 2015 by the grace of God.

  • Angel

Funny when people say Fashola is an example of good governance. What good governance? Have you been to places like Okomaiko, Badagry and Ajao Estate just to mention a few? He puts street lights in VI and Ikoyi where the rich live and all of you are shouting good governance. How many roads did he build in Ajegunle or Amukoko or Iyana Ipaja in the last eight years? He can analyze another person’s performance but he cannot tell us how many jobs he created or how much he pays his master, Tinubu every month. Rubbish. Goodluck Jonathan is the man to lead this country forward and Fashola and his likes can go to hell.

    • Cox

If i may ask you madam, your state of origin. Rome wasn’t built in one day, it takes so many years. A journey of a thousand years have to start from one day. Development will soon reach all those places you mention. as you know there is a light train project going on towards all the places you mention which will make those areas to develop in no time. All the fowl words you are mention is uncalled for. Seeing is believing, if your candidate did something good for people to see, they will see it.

Hello Mr Fashola, I’ll like to draw your attention to two things:

    1. The total area of Nigeria is 923,768 km2 so I guess it is possible to find 25,000km of road in there. Nigeria is not one straight road from North to South, the way you fly on a straight route to London, and
    2. If I say 50 Billion Naira is unaccounted for by the Lagos State Government and has been syphoned by Mr.Tinubu, the onus is not on Mr. Tinubu to prove his innocence, it is on me to prove his guilt.
Opinion does not amount to fact except for people who cannot think.
