Ex-Oyo State governor said PDP cannot win in Osun as it did in Ekiti two weeks ago.
A former Governor of the Old Oyo State, Omololu Olunloyo, has described Mr. Aregbesola as true politician with love for his people.
He said the works of late Sage, Obafemi Awolowo; former Governor of old Ondo State, Adekunle Ajasin; and others, which had been stagnated, had received a boost from the Osun State governor.
Stating that Mr. Aregbesola understood the game of politics more than all the governors in the South-West, Mr. Olunloyo said it would be impossible for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to repeat what happened in Ekiti two weeks ago.
Mr. Olunloyo, who spoke in Ede during a campaign rally for the re-election of Mr. Aregbesola, said he did not care if his endorsement of the governor would anger Abuja, stating that he had studied his (Aregbesola) style of governance and adjudged it to be the best.
“The last two weeks they robbed the APC in Ekiti. God will never allow that happen again. Secondly, of all the governors, Ogbeni Omoluabi Rauf Aregbesola knows the grassroots politics best,” he said.
Advising other Nigerian governors to learn from Mr. Aregbesola’s governance model, Mr. Olunloyo said many today dropped the name of Mr. Awolowo to reap political benefits.
The former Oyo State governor said his first discussion with Mr. Aregbesola was on the improvement of education, stressing “Anyone who feeds school children is taking care of education.”
He stated that if care was not taken, the problems of social and economic tension could consume Nigeria.
“There is Boko Haram in the North and there is kidnapping in the South. May the two evils never meet,” he said.
Mr. Olunloyo said those against Mr. Arebgesola were merely being sentimental, noting that if the governor had been against Christians, his government would not have given such a colorful burial to a late Christian cleric, T. O. Obadare.
Noting that Osun State had always been different, Mr. Olunloyo reminded the huge crowd of the PDP loss in the last presidential election in Osun in the 2011 election when all other states voted for the PDP candidate.
He said he was excited about the governor’s achievements as an alumnus of the Polytechnic of Ibadan.
He added, “Aregbesola is the best among the South-West governors. He understands politics very well and he is using it to serve the people, old and young.
“I am highly delighted that he attended the Polytechnic of Ibadan, which we founded during our time.”
