The victim also had urine poured on her.
A 28-year-old housewife, Temitope Ajayi, was on Thursday arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State for allegedly stabbing and pouring urine on her husband’s mistress.
The court was told by the prosecutor that the accused stabbed one Ganiyat Yusuf on the head for cooking for Mrs. Ajayi’s husband while she was away.
According to Banji Sangotokun, the police prosecutor, the housewife stabbed and poured urine on the victim, a development which subsequently led to Ms. Yusuf being hospitalised.
Mr. Sangotokun said the accused committed the offence on June 24 at about 2 p.m. in Adigbe area of Abeokuta.
The prosecutor disclosed that the accused and the victim were neighbours. He said that Mrs. Ajayi had moved to her husband’s family home to take care of her father-in-law who was sick. She later found out that Ms. Yusuf was cooking for her husband in her absence.
”The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 335 of the criminal code laws of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2006,” Mr. Sangotokun said.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of stabbing levelled against her. The presiding magistrate, Anthony Araba, granted her a N50,000 bail and one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned to August 25.
