The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has postponed by one week, the ward congresses for the 2014 governorship primary in Ekiti State earlier scheduled to hold on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
The postponement was announced via a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the postponement is to allow members of the party to participate in the on-going Continuous Voter Registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The congresses were expected to culminate into the election of a candidate of the party in the June 21 gubernatorial election.
The party had on Monday announced the result of its screening exercise for the 16 aspirants that filled nominated forms to run under the party. Three of the aspirants were disqualified, while 16 scaled through.
