Men were caught in the act on Valentine’s Day

A 64-year-old man, Oluwasegun Adesina-Rasheed, was on Monday ordered by an Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, to be remanded in prison for alleged homosexuality.

His co-accused, Samad Ojo, 20, and Ope Abeeb, 18, were also remanded in prison.

The police prosecutor, Banji Sangotokun, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on February 14 at about 11:30 p.m. at Iwe-Iroyin area, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta. According to him, the three men were caught in the act inside Mr. Adesina-Rasheed’s Honda CRV jeep.

Mr. Sangotokun stated that the offence committed by the accused persons contravened Sections 516, 214 (3) and 217 of the 2006 Criminal Law of Ogun State.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and homosexuality. Their counsel, Kehinde Amosa’s application for bail for his clients was rejected by the court.

The Chief Magistrate, Anthony Araba, adjourned the case to February 24.
