Ladoja, APC trade words over Oyo governor’s performance

APC asks Ladoja to prepare for jail

A former Oyo State governor, Rashidi Ladoja, and the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, have engaged each other in verbal war over management of the state.

The former governor fired the first salvo at Lalupon, Lagelu Local Government Area,on Wednesday where he was welcoming some defectors from the APC to his Accord Party.

Mr. Ladoja accused Governor Abiola Ajimobi and his party of ineptitude and inflicting pains on the people of the state. According to him, the incumbent government had failed in its main responsibility of taking good care of the people.

“Governance should not be a problem .The essence of any good government is to take good care of electorate. This government is full of deceit. When they came in, they said they did the expressway but the question is why can’t they go to Labo, Gege Oke- Are, Isale Osi, and develop such areas. All they know is deceit and God will judge,” Mr. Ladoja said.

The former Accord governorship candidate also condemned Mr. Ajimobi for his urban renewal drive, saying half of the money used on flowers and landscaping would make better impact if put to use in education.

“But God will judge. For if the schools they attended were like the one they claim to run now in the state, I wonder whether they would have attained the status they are in life. Years back, the number of pupils per class were not more than 30. But now, if you get to some schools in the state, they may have ten classes being attended to by four teachers. With this, what type of future are we giving our innocent children? And they claim to be in government. Anyway, from the top to bottom ladder of APC leadership, there is even a question mark on their educational qualification,” he said.

Mr. Ladoja, however, noted that he was not at the venue to campaign but to welcome the defectors.

“I told you I have not come here to campaign for it is not time yet for campaign. When campaigns proper start, you will hear a lot. I am only here to greet those who have just defected from APC to our party. I salute your courage for defecting to a party with human face programmes. God has intentionally turned his back at this government .For they have good teachers to teach them the art of governance. I was once their teacher. But when you see several teachers teaching a particular student and that student refuses to learn anything or improve, you should know that the student is really bad.

“When this government first came in, and they told us that we should assist them in government, we did not shy away. But as Yoruba will say, a dog has its own shit before eating other people’s shit, within shortest time, they showed their true number (colour). Since Lam’s death (former Governor Lamidi Adesina), the governor had assumed he has no leader again. His style is the person troubling me before and which I was using Ladoja to cover up, is dead.”

However, in his reply sent to journalists on Thursday, the interim publicity secretary of the APC in the state, Dauda Kolawole, said the former governor was preempting his conviction for his alleged involvement in the sale of shares belonging to the state.

He accused Mr. Ladoja of spreading rumours and asked the former governor to beg for forgiveness from the people of the state and prepare for a long jail term.

“What Ladoja is doing now can be compared to an allocutus by a convict before a judge. He knows that soon and very soon, the judgment of the court would be that he should be convicted for all our shares money misappropriated and sent to concubines and stooges. He knows that the people’s reaction would not be palatable so at every opportunity he has to address the people, he prepares the ground for his conviction. It is only in a Third World country like ours that someone who is standing trial for defrauding government would not be sober but preening himself like a turtle-dove and preparing to come back to the same government where he performed woefully. In Oyo State, we have about three of such: Ladoja, Adebayo Alao-Akala and Femi Babalola. What unites these three aspirants who want to contest for governorship in 2015 is EFCC; they are under trial for siphoning billions of the people’s money,” said Mr. Kolawole.

Among those who defected to Accord Party from APC  in Lagelu are Abdullahi Kelani, a.k.a ‘’Legal’’, Fatimo Adebayo, Waliyat Adeosun, Suraju Idogbe, Oyelami  Gafaru , Ojo Lawrence , Onifade Nosiru and Lamidi Mufutau.
