6 die in Ekiti fire incident

The petrol tanker went up in flames killing six persons.

Tuesday’s petrol tanker induced inferno which killed six persons was caused by the recklessness of the driver of the articulated vehicle , the traditional ruler of Aramoko-Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Olu Adeyemi, has said.

Mr. Adeyemi said this while conducting a delegation of the state government led by the deputy governor, Modupe Adelabu, round the scene of the accident.

He said information made available to him revealed that the accident, which occurred around 7.00 p.m., was as a result of loss of control of the vehicle by the driver.

In her remarks, the deputy governor expressed shock at the incident and assured the traditional ruler and his subjects of government’s readiness to assist families of the victims.

Ms. Adelabu, who expressed concern at the recklessness of drivers of articulated vehicles, urged aggrieved youth to maintain peace.

Four occupants of a two-storey building and two road side GSM recharge card vendors died in the incident.
