Amosun says Ogun APC is one
The All Progressives Congress, APC, State Registration Supervisory Committee, SRSC, on Monday met with the governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, and National Assembly members to unveil guidelines for membership registration of the party.
The meeting, which was led by Adeniyi Fabikun, had in attendance, political office holders and other chieftains of the party.
The nationwide registration of APC members is scheduled for February 5 to 10.
In his address, Mr. Amosun expressed satisfaction with the turnout of the meeting, promising to ensure a hitch-free registration exercise. He added that the meeting was symbolic as it coincided with the 38th anniversary of the state which was created on February 3, 1976.
Mr. Amosun, who dismissed rumours that the party was factionalised, insisted that APC remained united with former governor, Segun Osoba, as the leader in the state.
Mr. Amosun said he had consulted with Mr. Osoba on the three additional members to be included in the SRSC.
“Let it be noted that there will always be misunderstanding among party members but our party has a way of resolving our differences. Please, let us dwell on the things that will unite us and shun things that will create confusion. All of us are one and nobody should do anything that will send bad signals out. We must all come together and make sure everybody is registered,” Mr. Amosun said.
The governor implored the APC chieftains to remain focused and not be distracted, noting that there were still some hurdles to cross.
Mr. Fabikun said his committee would comply strictly with the guidelines issued by the national leadership of the party. He assured that the exercise would be held without any hitch and that no financial requirement was required of the party members to register.
