The suspension takes immediate effect.
The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, on Thursday announced the suspension of the Legislative Arm of the Imeko-Afon Local Government Council.
Mr. Amosun’s suspension order was handed down barely 24 hours after the suspension placed on the Council Chairman, Tajudeen Ayilara, by the legislators of the local government.
The Secretary to Ogun State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, who issued a statement on the sack of all the councillors, said it was in, pursuant to the provisions of Section 39(iii) of the Local Government Law of Ogun State.
He declared that the suspension takes immediate effect and listed the names of the suspended lawmakers as Abdul Waliu (House Leader), Alalade Kayode(Deputy Leader), Omoyayi Peter – (Majority Leader), Lawal Jafaru(Chief Whip) Mulero Yusuf, Taiwo Afisu, Falola Olugbenro, Odeyale Niyi, Suraju Yusuf, and Olawore Emmanuel.
The statement further declared that the affected councillors are “hereby directed to hand over all Government properties in their possession to the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA).
“They are also advised to stir clear of the Council Secretariat as relevant security agencies have been duly notified and directed to give full effect to the suspension order.”
