Accused obtained money under false pretences
A man, Wasiu Yusuf, who allegedly obtained N10, 000 under false pretences, was on Friday charged before a Sango-Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State.
Mr. Yusuf, 38, who lives in Iyana-Iyesi, Sango-Ota, was tried for obtaining money under false pretences.
According to the prosecutor, Olajide Michael, the accused committed the offence on October 17 at Kudi-Owo Bus Stop in Ota.
He alleged that the accused obtained N10, 000 from the complainant, Kamoru Azeez, under the pretext of repairing his vehicle.
The offence contravened Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Revised Laws of Ogun, 2006, Mr. Michael said.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.
The Magistrate, Titi Bello, said the surety should be resident within the court’s jurisdiction. She said Mr. Yusuf should show evidence of tax payment to Ogun as part of the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned to January 31.
