The Ogun State Police Command over the weekend in Abeokuta arrested 11 members of a robbery gang.
The police spokesperson in Ogun, Muyiwa Adejobi, told journalists that the suspects were nabbed around 4.15 a.m. at Itori Oke area of Abeokuta with the support of the State Vigilante Service.
He explained that following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Ibara Police Station, Emmanuel Oyewole, led his men with the assistance of the vigilante, to the crime scene and successfully arrested the bandits.
He gave the names of the suspects as Ishola Yusuf, Aremu Ismaila, Adebayo Adeola, Seun Daramola, Rasheed Ahmed, Adejare Oluwaseun, Rasaki Disu,Sunday Egbejinmi,Abiodun Soroyehun, Sodiq Ajayi and Ebunoluwa Oyinbo, a female member of the gang.
“The efforts of the Ogun State Police command to get the State rid of hoodlums paved off on Saturday when the policemen attached to Ibara Division led by the Divisional Police Officer SP Oyewole Emmanuel arrested eleven(11) suspected armed robbers around 4.15am at Itori Oke area in Abeokuta metropolis,” Mr. Adejobi stated.
The police spokesman said a victim has identified one of the suspects, Adebayo Adeola, to be one of the members of a robbery gang that robbed him in his house on August 3 at about 4 a.m.
Speaking further, he said the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered that the suspects be thoroughly investigated while they are kept in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Eleweran, Abeokuta; and will be charged to court after investigation.
