Gboyega Isiaka of the Labour Party in Ogun State says he is poised to win the 2015 gubernatorial election.
As political preparations for the 2015 poll in Ogun State commence, a governorship aspirant of the Labour Party, Gboyega Isiaka, has asked the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, to start preparing his handover notes.
Mr. Isiaka stated this in Abeokuta while addressing journalists, saying that the governor’s days in office are numbered.
“The governor should by now start preparing his handover notes. I am sure Labour Party is going to win next election in Ogun State, so the occupier of the government house should start preparing his exit,” said Mr. Isiaka.
The aspirant urged Mr. Amosun not to see the coming elections as a do or die affair.
“We will not jeopardise the hope of our people. Amosun should not be too desperate because he wants to serve. It should not be a life and death over the race,” Mr. Isiaka said.
The Labour Party aspirant said he is concerned about the debt profile of the state, particularly considering the projects the funds are being used for.
Mr. Isiaka denied insinuations that there is political disunity in Ogun West zone, saying that since the zone is yet to produce a governor since the creation of the state; it has resolved to speak with one voice in producing the next governor come 2015.
He said that the support he has gotten from the leadership of Labour Party, gives him the confidence that his zone will produce the next Ogun governor.
Mr. Isiaka was the candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, in the 2011 governorship election. He lost to the incumbent, Mr. Amosun, of the Action Congress of Nigeria.
