Two Nigerian security officials engage in street brawl in Abeokuta

Both men were arrested by the police.

A street fight broke out on Friday between an official of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, and a member of the Man’O’ War, a para-military volunteer organisation, at the popular dual carriage Lalubu Road in Abeokuta.

The Man’O’ War was said to be controlling traffic on a zebra crossing opposite a famous private school in the town when the civil defence official allegedly disobeyed a traffic signal.

The action of the civil defence officer resulted in a verbal scolding from the Man ‘O’ War. Feeling insulted, the civil defence officer alighted from his car and attempted to handcuff the Man ‘O’ War official.

The ensuing scuffle led to traffic jam on the road that lasted for about 30 minutes. A swift police intervention prevented the conflict from turning bloody as the two men were arrested and taken to the Ibara Police Station.

When contacted, the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident, referring to it as an “internal matter” that would be resolved following ongoing investigations.
