Each applicant was asked to pay N1, 000.
Over 1,000 applicants have applied for eight vacant positions advertised by the Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission, PREMIUM TIMES findings revealed on Thursday.
The submission of the application forms, which closed on Tuesday, saw many of the eager applicants rush to meet the deadline for submission at Block D of the Commission’s office located at the State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The vacant positions include: Protocol Officer, Administrative Officer, Senior Administrative/Senior Legislative Officer, Assistant Chief Sergeant-at-Arm, Principal Sergeant-at-Arm, Senior Chamber Superintendent at Arms, and Higher Technical Officer
There had been complaints raised over the discrimination against polytechnic graduates by the advertisers. Out of the eight positions advertised, the commission called for applications from BSc holders for seven positions while HND holders could apply for only the Higher Technical Officer.
The commission’s advert came few days after the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, condemned the federal government for discriminating between polytechnic and university graduates.
