Ogun road accident claims toddler, one other


The crash occurred on Saturday evening.

The accident-prone and notorious Onipepeye village axis along Siun-Abeokuta dual carriage road, again, on Saturday, claimed the lives of two persons, while 14 others sustained serious injuries in an auto crash.

The dead victims in the accident include a three-year-old girl and a man.

Witnesses say the accident occurred when the tyre of the bus, which was reportedly travelling to Ijebu-Ode, burst; and the bus somersaulted.

The crash occurred at about 6.00pm.

It was further learnt that wife of the Ogun state governor, Olufunsho Amosun, was among the sympathisers who rescued the victims who were later taken to State Hospital,Abeokuta.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi who confirmed the accident attributed it to over-speeding by the driver,which resulted in the somersaulting of the bus following tyre burst.

Mr. Akinbiyi explained that the bus took off from the popular Kuto garage in Abeokuta with passengers before its accident.

He also added that corpses had being deposited in the morgue, while the injured were admitted in the hospital for medical attention.
