Ogun Assembly Commission advertises vacant positions, discriminates against HND holders

Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun

In its current recruitment exercise, Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission excludes polytechnic graduates.

The Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission, seeking to employ graduates, has put up a notice that appears to discriminate against polytechnic graduates.

The commission put up eight vacant positions and asked that for seven of those positions, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree.

The last position, Higher Technical Officer, is the only spot up for grabs for both University and polytechnic graduates.

The state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, recently condemned Nigeria’s education policy that discriminates against polytechnic graduates. The Assembly Service Commission, has, however disregarded the governor’s view in its current recruitment drive.

The advertised positions include: Senior Administrative/Senior Legislative Officer, Assistant Chief Sergeant-at-Arm, Principal Sergeant-at-Arm, Senior Chamber Superintendent at Arms and Higher Technical Officer.

Efforts to get the reaction of the commission proved abortive, as the chairman was said to be unavailable and other officials at the commission declined comment referring all enquiries to the chairman.
