20 die in auto crashes in Oyo in May – FRSC

There were 20 ghastly road accident in Oyo State, the FRSC said.

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, in Oyo State on Wednesday confirmed that 20 persons died in various auto crashes in the state in May.

The Sector Commander, Godwin Ogagaoghene, said that 20 road traffic accidents were also recorded during the period.

He said 331 persons were involved in the accidents, while 159 had various degrees of injuries. He also said there is a gradual reduction in the number of recalcitrant drivers in the state.

Mr. Ogagaoghene noted that many of the drivers now see the importance of obeying traffic rules and regulations.

“Sensitisation is ongoing, not only in Oyo State but nationwide and so far, the response has been fine.

“Our plan to meet up with the road safety decade of action is on course.

“We are optimistic of reducing the forecast level of road traffic deaths which are on the decline,’’ he stated.
