Jonathan will win battle on corruption; ACN more corrupt than us- PDP

Ogun PDP deputy governorship candidate quits party

byDimeji Kayode-Adedeji

Mr. Oladunjoye says he is leaving the PDP because of the intra-party shenanigans in the state.

The deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State in the 2011 elections, Tunde Oladunjoye, has quit the party.

Mr. Oladunjoye stated this in a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES. He said that it was time for him to move on since there was no amicable resolution to the “intra-party shenanigans” in the party.

Mr. Oladunjoye did not state his next political move or the party he intends to join. He, however, said that consultation was ongoing.

“It is exactly two years and two months today, when I ran a joint ticket with my esteemed leader and compatriot, General Adetunji Idowu Olurin (rtd), in our patriotic bid to rule our dear Ogun State for the good of our people, on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

“Sadly, we lost that bid not for lack of popularity or hardwork, but more due to dirty intra-party shenanigans which rendered our party prostate and hence unelectable during the hotly contested 2011polls,” he stated.

Mr. Oladunjoye, who was also a former local government chairman under Governor Gbenga Daniel before they parted ways, said he remains eternally grateful to his family, friends, fans, supporters, loyalists, and leaders, for their backing before, during and after the 2011 governorship election.

“Pitiably, the Ogun State Chapter of the PDP remains irreconcilably divided till date, thereby giving the sad impression that, like the Bourbourns of ancient Europe, they have learnt nothing and forgotten nothing! But as a pragmatic politician, one cannot afford to remain static in the quest for public good; there is, therefore, the need for one to forge ahead. To this end, consultations are on-going,” Mr. Oladunjoye said.
