The councilors praised the governor for his achievements so far.
Local government councilors under the banner of Ogun State Local Government Legislative Forum have kicked off electoral campaigns for the re-election of the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
The 236 legislators from the twenty local government areas of the state said they have endorsed Mr. Amosun to contest the 2015 poll.
Addressing journalists in Abeokuta at an event to commemorate Mr. Amosun’s second year in office, the forum acting chairman, Adeniji Ibrahim, said the forum was satisfied and convinced by Mr. Amosun’s performances since he assumed power.
“Without mincing words, we can conveniently and proudly say that the present administration under the leadership of Governor Ibikunle Amosun has in the last two years contributed meaningfully to the developmental growth of the state,” Mr. Adeniji said.
The forum said the achievements cover health, infrastructure, education, agriculture and security; adding that the governor has adhered strictly to the implementation of the five cardinal programmes of the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
The legislators also faulted the recent comments attributed to Gbenga Kaka, an Ogun State senator, who described Mr. Amosun’s various projects as white elephants.
They said the remark was uncalled for as “even the blind knows that the governor is genuine in the implementation of the projects.”
The body challenged Mr. Kaka, as former Deputy Governor in the state, to make public his contributions to his senatorial district and developmental growth while in office as the then number two citizen of the state.
