Police parade two teenage kidnappers in Ibadan

The teenagers said they regret their action.

The Oyo State Police Command paraded two 17-year-old suspected kidnappers on Wednesday.

The suspects, according to the police, were planning to kidnap a colleague called Victor before they were rounded-off after a tip-off.

Briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Ibadan, the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Indabawa, said the suspects had promised a motorcyclist N100,000 if he could execute the job for them successfully.

Sobbing, the suspects said they regretted the action.

“I was at home when Similoluwa called me that he had hatched a plan of how we would make money,” said one of the suspects named Tunde

The other suspect , Similoluwa, claimed that he wanted to use the money to settle his admission issue.

“We hoped to demand N500,000 as ransom. I wanted to use the money to get admission which I missed last year”, he said.

The suspects told journalists that the motorcyclist, who was suspicious of the reason for promising him N100,000 gave them in.

Also in Ibadan, on Wednesday, the Nigerian Customs Service intercepted a bus along Igboho conveying ammunition.

The Controller of Customs, Richard Oteri, while briefing journalists in Ibadan on Wednesday, said a total of 18 sacks with 227 cartons containing 250 live cartridges each, amounting to 56, 750 cartridges were found in the bus.
