The inauguration of the committee will enable the commencement of party activities in the state.
The merger committee of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Ondo State has been inaugurated with members and officials of all political parties involving in the merger in attendance.
At the inaugural meeting held in Akure, the state capital, the party resolved to embrace internal democracy and fairness to all.
The Chairman of the merger committee, a senator representing Ondo North District, Ajayi Borrofice, said the inauguration became necessary in order to begin party activities in the state.
He said the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, had held its convention in Lagos with the decision that the party be dissolved into APC.
Mr. Borrofice said both the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, have also held their conventions and dissolved their parties into APC.
Mr. Borrofice said it is therefore imperative that the party is fused at the state level so as to be on ground before the final directives from its national leaders.
He said all the parties involved agreed that the merger at the State level should be consolidated.
Mr. Boroffice said the party has decided to set up three committees including, Publicity and strategy, Contact and Mobilization as well as Finance and Logistic Committees with a view to reach the grassroots and begin its activities.
The former Chief of staff to late Governor Adebayo Adefarati , Foluso Aminu said the APC merger at the state level has become a driven force that will send the opposition to exile.
Mr. Aminu said the merger was done without acrimony because the party had embraced internal democracy where all parties in the merger are given fair and equal treatment.
