The police in Ondo State have arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction of the wife of a popular politician in Idanre Town, Yewande Olaiya.
They were apprehended on Wednesday evening at their hideout where they held their victim hostage inside a building in Akure.
The 40-year-old woman was abducted from her residence on Surulere Street, Odode Idanre on Monday by three gunmen.
A source said the kidnappers drove into the residence of their victim in an unregistered green coloured Toyota car, went straight to her apartment and whisked her into the waiting vehicle. They then drove away.
The source added that the hoodlums had contacted her family and demanded huge amount as ransom.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Wole Ogodo, told journalists in Akure on Thursday that luck ran out on the hoodlums when detectives traced them to a building in Akure and arrested them.
Mr. Ogodo gave the name of the arrested persons as Akintayo Gboyega, Dickson Ossai, and Usang Usang. He said they were picked up by officers and men of the special Anti- Robbery Squad and added that they will be prosecuted if found culpable.
