The Labour party says that 60 percent of PDP members has joined its folds.
The Ogun State Chapter of Labour Party on Thursday disclosed in Abeokuta that sixty per cent of the crisis ridden Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have defected into its fold.
The Labour Party called on the PDP leadership to rise up to the reality that the latter is dead in the Ogun State.
The Secretary of the Labour Party, Sunday Oginni, made this claims in a statement while reacting to the state PDP Chairman, Bayo Dayo’s alleged description of the former as a mushroom party.
“In as much as we don’t want to engage PDP’s Chairman in a war of words so as to dignify his party which is already dead in Ogun State, we, however, want Engr Dayo to rise up to the reality that more than sixty percent of his members have defected to the only progressive party in Nigeria, the Labour Party,” Mr. Oginni declared.
He stated further that for the PDP boss to have referred to Labour Party as a “mushroom party” is an indication that Mr. Dayo is either a comedian or oblivious of the current situation in Ogun State politics. He advised the PDP chairman to face the party’s self inflicted problems and stop seeking for cheap popularity.
Mr. Oginni further claimed that as part of Labour Party’s efforts to take over the state in the next 2015 general election, it has won to its camp 70 per cent of the members of the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
He also disclosed that some of the ACN’s party secretariats have been repainted with Labour Party’s colour and logo by some members who have come to the stark reality that Labour Party is the solution to the myriads of problem confronting Ogun State which the present administration in the state does not have capacity to solve.
