Some opposition parties in Ondo State contested the legitimacy of the last governorship election in state at the election tribunal.
The Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure, the state capital, will on Friday deliver judgment on petitions before it.
The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and its Candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu; and Olusola Oke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; are contesting the result of last year’s governorship election declared in favour of the current governor of the state and the Labour Party, LP, candidate, Olusegun Mimiko.
The petitions of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and its candidate, Soji Ehinlanwo, faced some challenges leading to its indefinite adjournment.
The three-man petition panel headed by Justice Andova Kaka’n was inaugurated on November 22, 2012 and got 180 days to finalize proceedings.
All parties involved have been served with a notice of judgment by the Tribunal.
