Adigun supposedly the target for the assassination.
The police in Oyo State on Friday arrested the sacked vice-chairman of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim wing), Abass Oloko.
He was arrested in connection with the murder of the night guard of Ayodele Adigun, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and chieftain of the Accord Party. The killing, which occurred on March 26 at the premises of Adigun’s Ikololaba, Ibadan, residence, is believed to be a failed attempt on the ex- scribe’s life.
Though his house was searched by the assailants, Mr. Adigun was missed because he was in Ekiti State with former Oyo State Governor, Rashidi Ladoja, to inaugurate the state’s chapter of the Accord Party.
Mr. Oloko was arrested at his house in Ibadan on Friday afternoon by police officers who had laid an ambush for him. According to a police source, prior to the arrest, Mr. Oloko had been under police surveillance for some time. He is now being held at the state’s Criminal Investigation Department, CID.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo, Olabisi Ilobanefor, confirmed the arrest.
“We are interrogating him and if he is found culpable, your guess is as good as mine- he will face the music and be charged to court.
“He is currently undergoing interrogation and it is the outcome of the interrogation that will determine his culpability or otherwise and whether he will still be detained or not,” she said.
