A former Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, Adewunmi Ariyo, has been killed by unknown assailants in his residence in Ilorin.
The wife of the deceased, Tosin Ariyo, who confirmed the death, said on Friday that assailants, numbering five, stormed their house at about 10 p.m. on Thursday.
Mrs. Ariyo said they dragged him to the sitting room where they killed him after collecting his car key and DVD player.
She said they then climbed upstairs to meet her, a nursing mother, telling her that her husband had been killed and that she should cooperate with them and handover her jewellery.
Late Mr. Ariyo, 42, worked in the Dental Department, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, (UITH).
Meanwhile, some of the sympathisers at the deceased’s residence on Friday described him as a soft-spoken and easy going person.
The spokesman of the state Police Command, Femi Fabode, could not be reached for comment on the incident as at the time of this report.
