The judge granted bail to the accused.
Two butchers, who allegedly stole a widow’s N650, 000 on Tuesday appeared before an Abule-Egba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on charges of conspiracy, stealing and fraud.
Moses Endurance, 48, and Sunday Idowu, 30, allegedly defrauded Joy Uwakwo of the sum she was saving with them.
Mr. Endurance resides at 8, Abdullahi St. Meiran, Lagos, while Mr. Idowu lives at 20, Paul St., Abule-Egba.
“When she wanted to collect her money in December last year, she was told that the money was stolen and since then all efforts to reach them proved abortive,’’ the prosecutor, Rachael Williams, submitted.
Mr. Williams said that the offence contravened sections 285, 312 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The butchers, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Tajudeen Alias, granted them bail in the sum of N150, 000 with one surety each, and adjourned the case to May 6 for further hearing.
