Ijesas in Diaspora to converge in U.S. for World Conference

The conference is free for all Ijesas who might want to participate.

Thousands of Ijesas outside Ijesaland under the banner of Ijesa People In Diaspora, I-PID, have concluded arrangements for the second edition of their World Conference.

The board has chosen Dallas, Texas, in United States of America (USA) where they would all converge from their various countries of residence across the globe.

The organisation’s president, Akinyemi Fasakin, in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES said the conference is scheduled to hold between October 25 and 27 with the theme: Ijesaland Vision 2018 – A Five Year Development for Homeland.

He added that the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who is also an Ijesa, will grace the occasion while the Owa Obokun of Ijesa, Adekunle Aromolaran, will lead other royal fathers to the venue.

“The Conference is free and we encourage our kinsmen and women who may want to be part of this great and the largest gathering of Ijesas in Diaspora to save the date and start making plans to join us in Dallas,” Mr. Fasakin spoke from Houston, Texas, the international headquarters of the association.

“For our home-based members, we advise that they start making travelling arrangement as soon as they register for the conference. The United State of America embassy in Nigeria requires at least three months advance visa application request from would- be conference attendees,” he stressed.

Also speaking, the Programme Planning Committee Chairman, Dideolu Falobi, who doubles as the organisation’s Vice-President in Africa, said arrangements for the conference success were in top gear.

Mr. Falobi, a renowned engineer who was recently inducted as a Fellow of the Society of Engineers, added that some notable Ijesa indigenes that had made the homeland proud globally will be honoured at the ceremony.

He added that many members across the globe have shown their intention to participate at the conference. He also said that the maiden edition held last year in Houston was a success which paved the way for the next edition.

He said I-PID will provide all required assistance to assist all duly registered members of the organisation to attend the conference but quickly explained that individual members are required to individually secure an entry visa to USA for the conference while the final decision to grant entry permit to qualified members rests with the American Embassy in a member’s country of residence.

The organisation states in its website that it is not a political or religious group and has no political or religious affiliation or allegiance to any political or religious organisation.
