400 kilometres of rural roads have so far been graded and provided with culverts and laterite filling.
A total of 15 of the 20 Local Government Areas in Ogun State have benefited from the on-going rural road rehabilitation schemes of the current administration which commenced last month.
Areas that have benefited from the scheme include Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Ifo, Yewa North, Ado Odo/Ota, Ikenne, Sagamu, Remo North, Ijebu Ode, Waterside, Ewekoro, Ijebu North and Yewa South. So far, 400 kilometres of rural roads have been graded and provided with culverts and laterite filling, the state government said.
Other local government areas which have been visited by the work gangs created for the purpose of the scheme are Imeko Afon and Odogbolu.
According to a press release signed by the Information Officer in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Seun Dokunmu, the four gangs that are working in each of the four zones to which the 20 council areas had been grouped spent two weeks working in each of the areas and the number of kilometres covered in the various areas depend on the identified needs.
