The Ondo Elders Forum asked the governor to do away with people who would rubbish his administration.
The re-appointment of Rotimi Adelola has the Secretary to the Ondo State Government by Governor Olusegun Mimiko has continuedto attract scathing criticisms from different pressure groups in the state.
The latest outburst is coming from a group named, Ondo Elders Forum.
In a statement jointly signed by its chairman and secretary, Adeyemi Olakunle and Fanibe Femi, the group said that the reappointment of the Mr. Adelola has raised serious doubts about the credibility of the governor, Mr. Mimiko and the ruling Labour Party.
The group said just three days before the reappointment of Mr. Adelola, a police squad mandated by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) zone 11, had attempted to arrest the SSG for alleged financial frauds and threat to life.
It disclosed that the arrest was averted at the instance of the governor and some top police officers in Abuja.
“We wonder, with all sense of sincerity, why the governor would reappoint Aderotimi whose case is still pending before the anti graft agencies and have series of alleged financial scam. This very act from the highly respected governor has raised a lot of doubt on the credibility of his government,” the group said in a statement.
The forum lamented the alleged cases of fraud that had been perpetrated by the SSG, vowing to reopen the cases and to pursue them to conclusion.
“It is high time we started condemning and exposing those who have indebted [sic] our state when our youths are roaming the streets unemployed,” it said.
The group however urged the governor to take exemplary action by frowning at corruption and doing away with people who would rubbish his administration.
“We understand that there have been a lot of complaints from different quarters to the governor. We therefore, urge the governor to take a pro active step by sacking the already identified rotten apple in his government. We undoubtedly appraise the credibility of the governor and urge him to save himself from dented company in his cabinet by sacking the SSG from his cabinet,” the group added.
Another group, Ondo Youths Forum, had last week condemned the reappointment of the SSG.
