Ondo Tribunal bans side talks during hearings

The Tribunal Chairman warned against side talks during proceedings.

The Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has banned all side comments from both the bar and politicians during proceedings.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Andovar Kaka’an, gave the order during the cross-examination of the Labour party’s witnesses.

This order is coming after Tuesday’s altercation between the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Rotimi Akeredolu; and Justice Kaka’an over the tribunal’s record.

The Tribunal Chairman said that anybody found disturbing the peace of the tribunal will, henceforth, be sent out of the court room.

The only female member, Justice Mohammad, said the tribunal has a serious business at hand and should not be distracted.

She then appealed to all stakeholders to maintain decorum in the court at all times during the proceedings.

No truth in media reports

Justice Kaka’an denied media report of an altercation with Mr. Akeredolu for over 20minutes, saying there is no truth in the report.

Justice Kaka’an stated that though Mr. Akeredolu accused him of partiality, there was not argument between the both of them.

He appealed to journalists to refrain from false reports.
