Ondo NURTW says hoodlums plan to sack state executive

Crisis brews in the Ondo State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.

The National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in Ondo State on Wednesday cried foul over plans by some hoodlums to disrupt the peace of the state.

The state chairman of the union, Oladutele Obayoriade, who said this in Akure, the state capital, said some hoodlums met in Ekiti State to design strategies aimed at causing chaos in the state.

Mr. Obayoriade called on the state police command to intervene and ensure that the crisis is not allowed to break out among members of the union in the state.

He also asked the police to unravel the mystery behind the alleged attack on the state deputy chairman of the union, Omobomi Ajisafe, and expose those that allegedly attacked him.

Mr. Obayoriade said the plot to cause mayhem in the state was being hatched in connivance with a zonal executive member of the union and some disgruntled members of the union in the state.

He said the hoodlums plan to invade the state secretariat of the union and forcefully take over the leadership of the state without recourse to constitutional provisions.

The state chairman of the union blamed the current issues in the union on the attempt by some people to surreptitiously take over the leadership of the union. He said these people were behind the ticket racketeering that led to the invitation of the leadership of the union to Abuja last week.
