Mr. Ajimobi says if members of the cadet engage in sharp practices, he will sack the one.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi has warned members of the Youth Empowerment Scheme of Oyo State, YES-O, against collecting bribe from the people of the state, threatening to sack any of them caught in the act.
Mr. Ajimobi, who addressed YES-O cadets at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan, on Wednesday, said his office had been overwhelmed with reports of misconduct, particularly extortion and destruction of people’s property by some of the workers.
The governor also informed that about five of their colleagues found in the act have been shown the way out; while another 200 were given permanent appointment by the state in appreciate of good quality and contribution to the state.
He spoke on the need for them to be punctual in their duty posts, adding that they would be monitored from time to time.
“I know there are good ones among you and that there are bad ones too. So I want you to be monitoring yourselves so as to discover the truants among you,” he said.
According to the governor, the scheme was put in place to create jobs for the youth of the state, saying the government had already empowered 400 among the cadets.
While urging them to be dedicated to the duties, Mr. Ajimobi promised to absorb the good ones among them to the system as soon as there are openings in the service.
