The governor said that the demolition exercise is to bring more development to Ijebu Ode.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State said on Tuesday in Ijebu-Ode that he did not order the demolition of worship centres for road expansion in the town.
Mr. Amosun stated this while inspecting an on-going demolition exercise for a road expansion project in the area.
He expressed surprise at the level of destruction at the premises of the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, on Folagbade Road in Ijebu-Ode.
Mr. Amosun, however, said the funds for payment of compensation were ready for disbursement, adding that those affected would be adequately compensated.
The governor explained that the demolition exercise was to bring more development to the ancient town and not to cause pain to anyone.
Mr. Amosun, who commended the residents for their support and understanding, said the road expansion work would soon commence.
He said that work was on-going on the Ago-Iwoye-Ilishan road as well as other major roads in Ogun East Senatorial District.
The governor solicited the support and prayers of the people to ensure the realisation of the projects being executed.
