The Ondo first lady welcomed the first child born in 2013 in the state.
The wife of Ondo State Governor, Olukemi Mimiko, joined the joy of the family of Adedeji who ushered in the new year with a new addition of a baby girl to their family.
Baby Adedeji, who arrived at 12:01am at the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, weighed 3.8 Kilogramme at birth and is Ondo State’s first baby of 2013.
According to the hospital officials, baby Adedeji was delivered through normal delivery without complications.
The wife of the Governor, while welcoming the first baby of the year, presented cash and other gift items to the baby’s mother, Veronica Adedeji, and other mothers who gave birth on the new year day at the State Specialist Hospital, Akure.
Mrs. Mimiko, who was represented by the wife of the Commissioner for Special Duties, Mrs. Nireti Akinsuyi, advised all mothers to take good care of their children and lay a healthy foundation for them through exclusive breast feeding for the first six months after birth and also ensure that they receive all the necessary immunisation at the appropriate time.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dayo Adeyanju, who gave details of the first baby of the year, assured Mothers that measures are being put in place to further reduce Infant mortality and maternal deaths in the state to the minimum.
