The speaker is being investigated by the ICPC
The Speaker of the Ogun State Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, who was questioned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, over his alleged role in a car purchase scam, is currently on administrative bail.
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that the speaker was interrogated for about 8 hours between 10 a.m. and 6p.m. last Thursday before he was released on bail, pending further investigations.
So far, eight principal officers of the Assembly have been interrogated by the commission and have been ordered to return for further investigations.
A petition was written against the speaker and others to the ICPC accusing them of inflating prices for the purchase of 28 official cars for members of the Ogun State Assembly.
Mr. Adekunbi has denied any wrongdoing saying he would come out clean after investigations.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the ICPC, Folu Olamiti, confirmed the speaker’s bail.
Mr. Olamiti added that the commission was proceeding with its investigations.
