The solders will be moved to Jaji for pre-deployment training

A total of 44 officers and 756 men from the Owena Cantonment of the 32 Artillery Brigade have been nominated for a United Nations Mission in Darfur for a six-month Peace Keeping Mission.

The nomination of the men and the officers, who would be in Darfur from January to June 2013, was disclosed by the Army Public Relations Officer of the Brigade, Ademola Adegoke.

Mr. Adegoke said prior to the unit’s induction into the mission, the troops were since November exposed to a rigorous in –barrack training within the cantonment.

The Public Relations Officer added that the men and the officers have gone through a three-week pre-deployment training package to enhance their performance at the mission in Nigerian Army Peace Keeping Training Centre from December 15 to January 7, 2013 before their departure to Darfur.

He advised members of the public not to panic on the sight of the mass movement of troops out of Akure to Jaji, Kaduna for the pre-deployment training.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Tayo Akinjomi, has also enjoined Nigerian soldiers on peace keeping to be patriotic and maintain a high level of discipline while on the foreign assignment.

The commissioner said the good work they do while on a foreign mission would contribute immensely to the development of the country and their future career.

He charged religious leaders in the country to be united and not to relent in their prayers for Nigeria as a nation for the sake of generation unborn.

He said the state government would continue to support Security Agencies in the state in their bid to make the state crime free and conducive for entrepreneurs.
