There will be a commemorative walk to mark the World AIDS Day in the Ogun.
The Ogun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS, OGSACA, and its collaborative partners will organize a commemorative walk, Saturday, December 1, to mark the “World AIDS Day” in the State.
In a statement, the Agency’s Director, Kehinde Fatungase, indicated that the State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, is billed to lead the walk scheduled to take off at the Ijaiye market at 7 a.m. and end at OGSACA’s complex.
The statement added that a sensitization programme for stakeholders follows at the complex at 9 a.m. on the theme of the day which is Resourcing the State Response Towards Getting Zero AIDS-related Deaths;” after which a mobile counseling and testing would be conducted on interested members of the public to ascertain their status
In a related development, wife of the Ogun State Governor, Olufunsho Amosun, will on Monday flag–off the 2nd Round of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week, MNCHW, in the State.
A statement by the Commissioner for Health, Olaokun Soyinka, in Abeokuta indicated that the event holds at Ofada Health Centre, Ofada in Obafemi/ Owode Local Government Area of the State.
Mr. Soyinka added that the bi-annual programme that would be rounded off on Friday, December 7 is scheduled to hold in all the Primary Health Centres and other designated health posts across the State where women, pregnant mothers, newborns and children less than 5 years will enjoy free services such as Vitamin A supplements, routine immunization, screening for malnutrition, and birth registration.
He added that during the period, tetanus injection would also be administered on pregnant women just as long lasting insecticidal nets and family planning commodities will be distributed freely.
Meanwhile, a special delivery kit package and gift items tagged, “Araya Kit” by Ms. Amosun would be given to mothers that give birth during the period of the programme.
