The victim is only ten years old.
A 62-year-old man, Alabi Ibrahim, was on Monday arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital for allegedly defiling his 10-year-old step daughter.
The suspect was charged to court by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police for having unlawful carnal knowledge of the 10-year-old.
Earlier, the man had evaded police investigation, taking refuge in the house of a top politician in the town.
The police later caught up with him; and after they concluded investigations, the suspect was charged to court.
The Magistrate, M.O Olayinka adjourned hearing till November 29.
A Non-Governmental Organisation, Child Protection Network, CPN, had reported the alleged rape scandal to the police. The police conducting investigations on the matter found out from the victim that she had been abused by her step father.
Mr. Ibrahim’s step daughter said he had been sleeping with her for a very long time. She said she has lost count of the number of times her step father had slept with her.
“Daddy always comes when mummy is not around, and always tells me not to tell anybody, else I would die,” she told police interrogators.
