The council chairmen were suspended because the failed to submit their staff audit.
The Ondo State House of Assembly has recalled nine suspended council chairmen.
The decision to recall the nine council bosses was taken at the House plenary on Wednesday.
The lawmakers had, last Tuesday, announced the suspension of the council chairmen for their refusal to submit a staff audit of their councils; and other related offences.
Addressing reporters after the plenary, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Oyebo Aladetan, said the house recalled the council chairmen after they submitted the staff audit report.
He claimed that the decision to recall the council bosses was not influenced by the executive.
“Our decision to recall the suspended council chairmen was not influenced by the executive. Since to err is human, to forgive is divine, we have to pardon them.
“We are independent of the executive, since the decision was taken unanimously by the house to suspend them; similar step was taken to recall them.
He said since the suspended lawmakers had complied with the House’ directive by submitting necessary documents, the lawmakers decided to forgive them.
He did not comment on the fact that the affected council bosses never vacated their seats.
PREMIUM TIMES, however, gathered that the lawmakers’ decision was influenced by Governor Olusegun Mimiko who had reportedly threatened to change the leadership of the House if they did not reverse their decision.
