The commercial motorcyclist was shot by a policeman in Lagos.
The commercial motorcyclist, Adigun Atilola, shot by a police officer on Tuesday in Ilupeju, Lagos, is alive and recuperating at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, the state’s police command has said.
The Lagos State Police Spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, confirmed this to PREMIUM TIMES. She said both the victim and his alleged attacker are currently in the hospital and are “responding to treatment”.
“I can assure you that the okada rider is not dead as proclaimed but in the hospital receiving treatment,” she said.
Ms. Braide also said that investigations are ongoing as to the real details of the incidents.
“Though the circumstances surrounding the incident is still very sketchy, the commissioner of police has ordered an investigation into what happened and if the police officer is found wanting he’ll go in for it,” she said.
The police spokesperson would not disclose if the police will foot the medical bills of the attacked motorcycle rider.
On Tuesday, at Ilupeju on the mainland in Lagos, a police officer allegedly shot an Okada Rider.
This culminated into a massive protest by his colleagues who heard that the Mr. Atilola had died.
The protests held at two different areas, the venue of the alleged shooting, and Magodo, another locale in Lagos.
