The sixty-two year old man allegedly defiled his ten year old step daughter.
The fugitive 62 year old suspect, Alabi Ibraheem, who allegedly defiled his 10 year old step daughter in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, was apprehended by the police on Monday.
The suspect evaded arrest over the weekend, having being shielded by a political godfather in the town.
He was initially quizzed by the Oluwo Police Station, an area where he took refuge, before being transferred to Ilupeju Police Station along Ayetoro road, the area where he allegedly committed the crime.
After his interrogation at Ilupeju Police Station, the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour. There, he will face further interrogation, the police said.
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspect will soon be charged to court after the police receives medical report on the victim.
He said on completion of investigation, the suspect will be charged to court, adding that the police is awaiting medical report carried out on the victim.
A ten year old girl had narrated to the police men that her step – father had slept with her on too many occasions.
“Daddy always sleeps with me whenever my mother is not around,” the child said. “He tells me not to inform anyone each time he sleeps with, that I shall die if I tell anybody.”
