The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned two men over an allegation of stealing twenty cartons of Milo drinks belonging to Adide Stores Limited.

The accused persons, Amidu Hamman and Yusufu Zaku, appeared before a Somolu Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing.

The police prosecutor, Akinlebi Adegoke, alleged that the suspects, who reside at No. 21, Jimoh Ali Street, Bariga, broke into Adide Stores, located at No. 6, Ajose Adeogun Close, Obanikoro, Lagos.

He told the court that the goods were stolen on October 21, at 9 p.m. after the store had officially closed for business.

“The two broke into the shop after its official closing hours, and stole 20 cartons of 900 grams Milo drink, valued at N138, 500.

“They broke the padlocks and forced apart the security burglary proof to gain entry through the back doors,” Mr. Adegoke said.

He told the court that the offences contravened Sections 278 and 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

Both accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi granted them bail in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety each, in like sum.

She adjourned further hearing in the case to November 23.
