Sniffer dogs belonging to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have detected three consignments of substances suspected to be heroin, worth N351 million.

A statement by Ofoyeju Mitchell, NDLEA’s Head of Public Affairs, on Saturday in Ikeja said the substances, which weighed 29.26 kg., were hidden inside balls and woolen carpets of various sizes that were imported from Pakistan.

The statement quoted Mr Ahmadu Giade the Chairman of the NDLEA, as vowing to incapacitate drug trafficking syndicates in the country through counter measures.

“Every drug seizure is important to us because of the value of the drugs and the fact that every seizure made advances the anti-drug campaign.

“We will not relent in protecting the country from the activities of drug traffickers,” Giade said.

The statement said Mr. Giade declared that the NDLEA would scuttle the plans of drug barons and stop them from using Nigeria as a platform or transit country for drug trafficking.

It said that investigations had commenced to identify the masterminds of the substances’ shipment.
