‎Police IG warns pro-Biafra group against possession of firearms

Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase

The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has warned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Nnamdi Kanu, against taking up firearms, saying such action would be dealt with.

A statement by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olabisi Kolawole, said all zonal Assistant Inspectors General and commissioners of police had been directed to enforce the laws against the use of illegal firearms across the country.

“The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a publication credited to the Indigenous People of Biafra ‘to carry guns in self-defence’, and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, fdc, NPM, has sternly warned members of the IPOB to reconsider their stand or face the wrath of the extant laws on bearing of firearms.

“The IGP warns that anybody who dares security agencies in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, and make life difficult for law abiding citizens, will face dire consequences of their actions.

“He cautions the IPOB members to follow appropriate avenues in ventilating their grievances as anybody who steps out of bounds will be decisively dealt with.

“Members of the group should therefore note that it is an offence punishable under the criminal law of the federation of Nigeria for a person to have in his possession or under his control any prohibited firearms without licence or permit.

“The IPOB are advised to be guided in respect of the above as the Police Force is poised to uphold the existing restriction over the use of firearms.

“Meanwhile, all Zonal AIGs and State Commands CPs have been directed to strictly enforce the laws against the use of illegal firearms across the length and breadth of the country.

“The Inspector-General of Police has assured that the Nigeria Police Force, complemented by other security agencies in the country, will tirelessly and assiduously work towards eliminating any threat to internal security and social disorder.

“He has reassured Nigerians of his commitment to their safety and security,” Ms. Kolawole, an assistant commissioner of police, said.

There is every attempt by the Buhari administration to divert attention from Boko Haram to either the pro-Biafra peaceful protesters or the Hausa Shiites. Despite Buhari’s release of thousands of terrorists and killers apparently to appease them (as one of their creators and sponsors) without trial and without in any way holding them to account for their atrocities, he has failed woefully to contain them.

Like the terrorists Buhari is looking for opportunity to go after soft targets – peaceful unarmed protesters and is trying force soldiers and policemen (who initially refused to obey these orders which are tantamount to crimes against humanity) to carry out these unconstitutional orders.

My advice to Arase and others quit rather than obey this kind of order because in future, they cannot escape the consequences.

This is a political problem that requires a political solution NOT military !!!

Apart from the crack down on unarmed Pro-Biafra Protesters, unarmed Hausa Shiite Muslims, the opposition and monumental financial and budget fraud, Buhari has not hidden his intention to unleash FULANI HERDERS on communities across the country.

It has come to a point where, in certain circumstances Nigerians need to take measures to protect themselves from Buhari and his fellow Fulani Sunni jingoists. In the case of FULANI HERDERS I have a few words of advice for Nigerians. All attempts to reason with the Fulani over this issue have fallen on deaf ears. Here is what will put an end to the curse of Fulani herders:

    1. Communities across the country (particularly Middle Belt, South-East and South-South) zones should form vigilante groups in order to protect themselves against the Fulani marauders/terrorists.

    2. The vigilante groups should, as a matter of necessity and of survival, form network with each other and monitor the movement of the Fulani herders/terrorists. Networking is very important because we have seen how these terrorists supported by Fulani political and religious leaders have razed isolated communities, one after another.

    3. Whenever there is a dispute or an attack by the Fulani terrorists on any community, the other communities should join hands and defend the victim community either through negotiation or through counter-attack on the Fulani terrorists.

    4. From now on, if any other community is destroyed by the Fulani herders/terrorists all the vigilante groups should locate and destroy all their cows in their regions (Middle Belt or SE or SS). The arrogance and intransigence of the Fulani herders and their political, military and religious sponsors demand such drastic measures.

    5. In case of any attach in retaliation, the vigilante groups should simultaneously defend themselves against these Fulani herders/terrorists
