The Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Youth Empowerment, Obi Adim, on Monday obtained the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, form to contest the governorship election in Imo in 2015.

Mr. Adim, joined by his supporters, picked the form at the PDP state office on Okigwe Road, Owerri.

He later told journalist that his priority, if elected as governor, would be to reduce the high rate of unemployment among the youth.

“The level of unemployment among the youth in the state is something else and that will be given serious attention if I am elected as governor in 2015, ’’ he said.

Mr. Adim said he had lined up more than 10 companies that would create approximate of 50,000 jobs for the youth, to address the problem.

“Already some of the companies have sent in their letters of intents,” adding that on the day of his swearing in as governor of the state, the companies would sign the agreement.

According to Mr. Adim, some of the companies will go into manufacturing, food processing and packaging, while others will go into ship building facility in Oguta area.

He said that others would venture into affordable housing.

Mr. Adim said “the whole essence is to make Imo progressively business friendly, to attract more companies that would continue to create employment opportunities for the workforce”.
