Gov. Obiano presents 3 refurbished APCs to Anambra Police

Willy Obiano, Anambra State Governor

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on Wednesday presented three refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers, APCs, to the state police command to strengthen and sustain security in the state.

In his speech at the occasion, Mr. Obiano said the target of his administration was to refurbish and present 20 APCs to the state police command for deployment to various parts of the state.

He said that two more APCs would be handed over to the police in two weeks.

He promised that his administration would present 10 horses to the police to aid crowd control during major events.

“The APCs are expected to equip the police to adequately battle kidnappers, armed robbers and criminals who threaten the peace in the state,’’ he said.

The governor urged the police to make effective use and maintain the APCs to protect the people of the state.

In his remark, the out-going Commissioner of Police in the state, Usman Gwari, thanked the governor for his zeal and commitment to the maintenance of peace and security in the state.

Mr. Gwari, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, recalled that the APCs were wasting away until the governor refurbished them for effective performance.

He assured that vehicles would be effectively used for crime fighting.

Mr. Gwari attributed the achievements recorded by the state police command during his tenure to the good working relations between the police and the government.

Mr. Victor Okoye, Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Security, commended the governor for equipping the police and building their capacity to discharge their duties effectively.

Refurbished ? I thought Innoson in Nnewi manufactures vehicles. Why cant they build new APC’s for the state.

  • Sydney Ezika

You better stop being sentimental. Tambuwal did the same thing in 2011, and APC applause and hail him and his reputation is rising, today he is the Governor of Sokoto State, Turaki has done same and APC is restless, to you his reputation is falling and he is being over ambitious. Remember, what goes round comes round.

    • Olawale Badmus Bright

Why is it that Igbo people never supported anything good? Naa waa for una oooo

      • SAM .A

They thrive on mischief , things that aren’t straight forward, wobbling foundation.
You would remember despite Stella Oduah’s scandal , they gave her a chieftaincy title and elected a thief as a senator.
        Arije nidi idaru.
Eku were madu a minority has stolen the majority post of Deputy Senate President from majority APC through a clandestine operation planed overnight on 8/9th June.

        • Otunba Adedoyin Banjo

Your Kashamu also became a Senator

          • PolyGon2013

In his own district (and probably the election was rigged there), and how many Yorubas supported Kashamu?

        • Ndi Charles

Saraki sef nor be thief? where Societe generale and Savannah bank money? We deserve where we are in Naija.

        • UOU

Yorubas are not only mischievous they are also masters of hypocrisy and deceit however in this current 2015 game they have deceived themselves and the rain is beginning to beat you people heavily. If care it not taken the yorubas will face a storm for the next 4years before they can start another / next mischief. Audu Ogbe said it all about obasanjo, everyone in the polity know this race for their chameleon character who their leader is a common and known criminal

      • PolyGon2013

You should know by now that ibos thrive on mischiefs. While we in SW will criticize our own, if we found him or her wanting, ibos will praise theirs even if the person was a thief or rogue. And they will even rejoice more, if they feel that the event is against a Yoruba. Yes, ibos thrive on mischief. And this is why they cannot be trusted on Nigeria affairs. Just watch out, when the laws catch up with Oduah, and you will see how they will be up in arms, claiming that they are being targeted.

    • PolyGon2013

Tambuwal did not do the same thing. Tambuwal defected to APC. Did Saraki defect back to PDP now? That is the difference. I can understand that you ibos are never on good side of Nigeria as long as you think it does not favor your people. If all Senators were there to elect Saraki, and then, at some point he defected back to PDP, then, you can make your comparison.

  • Abada Arinze Ehidonye

if one fails to learn from history that is what it becomes, face the reality and stop writing hell

  • Edeson

This is the most sentimental and clueless write-up I have seen in recent time. Is this not the change we all are clamoring for? Nigeria can’t be held ransom by one man. Saraki, want the best for Nigeria, I see a situation where merit rather than party interest fostered by a single individual will be a fine yardstick. I see wings of God fathers clipped. I see Nigeria moving forward.

    • PolyGon2013

It would have been fair if all Senators have voted for Saraki. Senate election for its President was done with about half of the Senators! That was wrong. if Saraki had won this fair and square, it would be a different story. Since APC did not like what Saraki did, he won’t enjoy it. He can no longer be trusted. People were not miffed that Saraki become Senate President, it is the way he got there!

  • femi

    Pele o! God Bamidele Ademola-Olateju.
I can never seem to understand how people pen down their opinions matter of factly.

  • Nicholas Noelle Dickson

Funny how individuals that can’t manage their lives talk less of their family/houses pretend on social media to be smarter than people that are far sensible, smarter and morally sound than their whole families put together

  • Dele Odugbemi

Please leave Bukola Saraki alone as an adage in Yoruba has captioned his rascal behaviour thus, “a DOG that will get lost in the jungles will never hear the whistle of HUNTERS”

    • Eroli Reuben

Mr. Odugbemi, are you insinuating that Tinubu in this case is the whistle blower?

  • Udo Udoette

Buhari has not made a mistake on this one! Rather he has gained further crdeibility
1- By refusing to meddle in NASS He has proven to Nigerians and the world that the “mean”dictator is now a true democrat.
2- He has gained moral high ground by not openly backing anyone nor interfering. This will become a very useful strategy when the third arm of Government -The judiciary- begins to move against corruption. At that time no one will be able to seek “protection from above.”

  • Otunba Adedoyin Banjo

Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the market is over for your slave master, Jagaban, Saraki is on the same page with Buhari, if not our amiable General would have stepped in.

    • tundemash

Moron …. since when did Buhari become your amiable General ? You forgot the posts you made 6 months ago are still online ?

      • Otunba Adedoyin Banjo

blackmailer, which post? I stand by PMB on his non interference with NASS Leadership tussle

        • tundemash

Moron …. this was you 7 montsh ago :

“We thank Bob Dee has revealed where he stand in all this, he attende3d the APC convention, he has shown himself to be a pocket sympathizer of the opposition, when GEJ defeats GMB in February, he must confess his leaning before writing another boring epistle on the election, which i believe GEJ will win convincingly.”

Since when did Buhari become your amiable General ?

  • Olayemi Sanni-Arewa

I still respect mr president for not meddling with the affairs of the NASS. He promised n he has fulfilled his promise.

  • Olusegun Akindulureni

Buhari is the best this that has happened to our democracy in a very long time. This man has no hidden agenda. he is here to serve. you want him to leave a lot of important state issues affecting Nigeria and start fighting saraki. I think you are the one making mistake here. it is high time we allow democracy to flourish. Democracy is a game of number, it is doesn’t matter if we like the outcome or not we need to respect people’s wishes

  • renewal

The Jonathan people will puncture your tyre ,if they can, don’t mind them ,they are losers .Yesterday people.

  • dudu

    Bamidele, you talk am well

  • Edward Osadebay

President Buhari has not made any mistake yet. Some over zealous, office driven and over ambitious politicians are the ones making all mistakes presently. APC and Buhari promised change and change it will be. Nigerians must learn to be patient and believe in this process of change. Change is usually slow. It’s taken almost all of 55 years to get us to this sorry state and here we go again expecting miracles in months. Sorry folks, it is going to take take decades of sustained good governance to bring this country to a level where we can all collectively say never again will we allow clues people like Jonathan especially to ruin us. Patience is virtue.
